My first primary source is an interview conducted by CNN of Griselda Mendoza. Griselda Mendoza is the daughter of Benancio Mendoza. Benancio used to grow and sell his own corn, but following NAFTA’s ratification, he was no longer able, due to the influx of inexpensive U.S. corn. Benancio was forced to move to the U.S. for employment, leaving his family and his cornfield behind. This source demonstrates how NAFTA affected small-scale agriculture and led to unemployment and immigration.
