My ninth primary source is a video interview of Timothy A. Wise, who is the director of the Research and Policy Program for Global Development and Environment Institute at Tufts University. In the video, Wise is in Mexico City at the National Assembly of Mexican Farmers Organization. Wise explains that he is going to present his research on agricultural dumping, which is a practice that the U.S. employed during the years of NAFTA. Agricultural dumping is exporting goods at low prices to undercut competitors and control the market. Wise’s research shows that Mexican farmers lost billions of dollars due to this practice, exposing the U.S. exploitation of Mexico.
